Pages carrying the “Tested” badge document a real in-store or long-term test. The relevant page states the context, actions performed, confirmed duration when applicable, observations, and limits. Comparisons may also use visible official and merchant sources without automatically receiving this badge.
For the historically purchased Matelas Expert corpus, one rule remains true: we buy the products with our own funds to ensure our independence. We do not accept products loaned by manufacturers. That historical purchase rule still applies to those published tests, but it is not retroactively turned into a universal prerequisite for every current or future test.
Our comparisons follow a precise methodology:

Matelas Expert is funded by affiliation. Specifically, when you click on a link to a merchant (Amazon, Fnac, Boulanger, etc.) and make a purchase, we receive a small commission. This system allows you to access our content for free, without intrusive advertising.

If you make a purchase during this period, we receive a commission ranging from 1% to 12% of the sale amount, depending on the product category. - Tester context: when several people take part, the relevant page identifies the profiles that actually contributed.

- There is no universal test duration.
- A real test may take place in-store or over time.
- Existing confirmed durations remain attached to the relevant product pages.
- Guides and comparisons identify their sources without automatically claiming a test.

How often do you update your comparisons? We update each comparison at least quarterly. We also update immediately when a product is discontinued, a significant price change occurs, or a new model enters the market.
Can I suggest a product for testing? Absolutely. Write to us at [email protected] with the product name and why you think it deserves testing. We evaluate all reader suggestions and prioritize products that generate the most interest.
Do you earn more commission on expensive products? No. Affiliate commission percentages are set by the retailer, not by us. More importantly, we have no incentive to recommend an expensive product over a cheaper one, because our editorial choices are made before any purchase happens through our links.
How do you handle negative reviews? If a mattress scores below 6/10 in our tests, we publish our findings honestly. We do not accept payment to withhold negative reviews, and we clearly explain why a product did not meet our standards. We also contact the manufacturer to give them the opportunity to respond.
What happens when a mattress is discontinued? We mark it as discontinued in our comparisons and remove it from our rankings. We then test the replacement model (if available) and update our comparisons accordingly.
